Two-Front War

10:40 AM

Man. Spent the last eight hours or so editing Raoul's political cartoon collection while listening to Michael Moore's unabridged Dude, Where's My Country? eBook that I have downloaded in MP3 form. I was literally immersed in US politics. Wow. That guy's good, he covered every single issue I could think of, and with such eloquence. He's everything I want to (and could never) be - a true populist and a utilitarian - because I'm one of those weakling liberals he talks about, to be honest. Still, I'd have to think about all that stuff now. Thank God I don't live in America.

Some hilarious quotes:

Cheney has called this "a new normalcy," a condition that will become permanent in American life. (They only hope.) They call it "a war on terror." How exactly do you conduct a war on a noun? Wars are fought against countries, religions and people, they are not fought against nouns or problems. And at any time it has been attempted, "the war on drugs," "the war on poverty," it fails.

Getting back to nature is a dumb idea. Nature doesn't want you anywhere near it. That's why nature created cities: to keep you as far away as possible.

He also, at length, gives these hilarious guidelines to talking to right-wing persons - convince them that your policy will make them money:
Paying workers more money makes you money... Health insurance for everyone will make you money... Joining a union will make you money... Clean air and water save you money... Stopping the drug war will save you money... Giving lots of money to the public schools makes you money... By never voting republican again, you will make a ton of money...
Awesome. Now I wish I had the resolve to stand up for equally retarded Canadian policy, such as privatization of our hydroelectric power here in BC and the attempts on free healthcare. Moore fills me with hope, knowing that there are people out there more responsible than I am. Heh, he probably would despise me, so I'll conveniently try to blame it on my age "Hey, I'm 22, I don't know what the fuck I'm saying!" heh. At any rate. I'm off to bed. I'm on the inverted day here. Day at night.
