First, I trashed my old piece-of-shit amp. Next, I hooked up the new speakers (and the old speakers - for 80s surround sound [read "quadrophony"] goodness), and after some knobs my father ripped off some other deck and figuring out that the "Tape A" button muted the phono-input sound, I was all set to listen to my 1973 LP of the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack. Welcome back, The Beatles, The Wings, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Police and Boney M, into my LPified life!
And, of course, this is what it was all about: getting my rockin' turntable to output actual music, as opposed to the garbled crap my previous amp was entertaining me with. So that's that folks, baby got back, 80s-style. Man: 1 Machine: 0
You're my hero, you bastard.
128kbit JCS, Queen through my laptop's shitty audio card.
My ears weep.
Ah yes. ;) You know, I have a 51.32 GB MP3 collection, but what started me off were those MP3s of Queen, Eagles, and stuff like "Romantic Collection" that I yoinked from you that day my father and I came to your place (though I do not clearly remember) to copy your files to our hard drive so we could burn them on CD for you.
Man, can you imagine a time when having a burner was a rarity? Heh, and I could sell warez at SWC, and Shajan still wasn't the bastard he later became. Man, I remember you coming over and us going "ooh" at Mechwarrior II. Yeah, those were the days. Well, nostalgia = distortion, I shouldn't oversimplify the complexity of past like this - but you get my point. ;)
Speaking of Queen, I wanted to upload some cool Queen/David Bowie video clips and some Russian cartoons I got to your FTP, but no such luck. Speaking of FTP and Shaw - have you heard of their Xtreme-I cablemodem package? I signed up, and they don't hassle me no mo'.
Dude that's awesomeness. Actually I came over to your house that day. I need to figure out how to back up my 45 gigs of shit though. DVDs don't cut it.
Re: Shaw. Go Telus. I'm on their basic service, I get roughly the same amount of traffic than you. They've never hassled me.
