Well, after an incredible seven-month run on Shaw's Xtreme-I package (5 Mbps down/1Mbps up), which culminated in Shaw's implementation of bandwidth counting for their Motorola Surfboard cable modems and my critical reevaluation of my yearly transfer limit (600 GB), I finally took Mite's advice and switched to the Wireless Home Networking Kit from Telus (2.5 Mbps down/640 Kbps up).
Sure, the speed is half of the Xtreme-I package, but it's still about seven times more than the normal Shaw package (350 Kbps down/50 Kbps up, if memory serves right); as well, having signed up for three years, I only pay $39.95/month (instead of the regular $46.95/month) and the ADSL modem/wireless router only cost me $19.95 instead of the regular $149.95.
Of course, my top concern is the transfer limit...if Mite is right about the (unofficial) 2 TB/year transfer capability; a higher speed would only mean that I would exceed my capacity faster and though my datalust can never be sated, 2.5 Mbps down should be quite enough for my purposes.
