Coolness
9:41 PM
I went with my parents and the homestay student, Kyota, to see the "Real Pictures" photography exhibit show (running until May 29) at the VAG today and on the way there we saw John Cusack (the actor). He was biking up Burrard and he nodded when I asked him if it was him, but I didn't have enough time to tell him I love his work. Oh well.
The exhibit was great. I was particularly impressed with "A Little Thought", an exhibit of Rodney Graham's work (running until May 8), displayed on the second and third floor. His work reminded me of the work of Alex Colville and Marcel Duchamp and I was captivated by a number of his displays, such as "Nautical Scene with Loudhailer" and "Typewriter with Flour".
I was also quite impressed by his audio-visual displays, going far beyond his predecessors, but with a certain quiet tongue-in-cheek flair. We got to his exhibit last, so now I have a strong urge to return to the VAG tomorrow to continue where I left off, so more on my impressions later.Man, my various projects are coming along and it's a cool summer evening. Life is a bitch but living can be good.
