Man. I don't know what's hotter right now: the upcoming "Neon Genesis Evangelion" live-action film (more info here), or the upcoming "Æon Flux" live-action film (more info here).

God, I just finished watching the original tonight; I just love it, Peter Chung is a genius! Now I simply must get "Mission Infinite" and "Operative Terminus", but they've been out of print for a while (as has been the box set).

Speaking of which, rumour has it that the incredible Mr. Lucas will release an "ultimate," six-episode box set of Star Wars in 2006, complete with new changes and corrections to the original trilogy. I'll bet Greedo shoots himself in the foot this time. ;) At any rate, next comes A Scanner Darkly (yo, Linklater, what's up with all that "limited release" stuff?!) and A Sound of Thunder.

I thought that after The Matrix, way back in 1999, (and, just for the record, after being immersed into the world of animé and Hong-Kong action films, afterwards, I was sorely disappointed with it), I thought I won't ever look forward to another film as much. Well, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith certainly broke this pattern for me, so now, the tail end of 2005 and 2006 will be very exciting times in the world of cinema. Kick ass.

P.S. GTA - San Andreas comes out for the PC today. The hunt begins. ;)

P.P.S. Episode 4 of the fourth season of "Family Guy" is here.

I didn't even know Aeon Flux is a "remake". Figures though.
I wonder if they managed to ruin a movie with Charlize Theron in it.

Did I say it was a remake? It seems to be more along the lines of the world that Peter Chung created for the fantastic MTV series, but they are obviously going to take away his abstraction and artistry (much more than they did in that animated "Matriculated" segment that he did for The Animatrix) and turn the story into some sort of a futuristic dystopia with a renegade hero.

Basically, they're dumbing down the plot elements to fit a standard Hollywood action-film template that the average audience will expect (just watch, they'll do the same to the Eva film). Thankfully, it seems that at least some of the visual elements will be retained (though not Æon's super-sexy costume).

And at any rate; Charlize Theron? What good films has she been in lately (if at all)? Yeah, she did the psycho hooker Monster pretty well, but that's just because the make-up department made her properly ugly and unrecognizable; that role didn't really require a lot of effort. She is a bit actress and a weak one at that.
