Not a moment too late, here is my very latest and greatest video project, Churchill 2000 Redux. The impatient should click here to skip straight to the video. Also, here's a commemorative poster/wallpaper of the framegrabs from the video. Click here to download the printable, hi-res, 8.5"x11", 150ppi version (739KB .PDF file).
If you need another incentive to see this video, here's the list of credits: Geoff Gabbott, Stella Horng, Fœtal Pig, Elizabeth Dawson, Philippe Barois, me, Dixon Ng, Audrey Yee, Jim Nakamoto, Eric Zhang, David Rong Dai, Frank Hangler, Rex Pillai, Patrick Wong, Parth Lodhia, Dean Choi, Louis Chan, Brian Woo, David Tomoji Klippenstein, Maria-Louisa Stepanek, David Lai, Alice Chang, Wei Kao, Walter Leung, Karin Arikushi, Thomas Kartmazov, Justine Sing, Alice Chu, Rachel Wong, Nick Mo, Kevin Lin, James Hsu, Angie Chau, Karen Zhu, Joyce Yang, Carol Mak, Arthur Lin, Edgar Lam, Matthew Leung, Gabriel Leung, Roman Jiganchine. Anyways, this is a meticulous edit of Derek's video of the last day of highschool, June 14, 2000. In a sudden flash of inspiration, I sat down on May 14 and in two days completely recut, re-cropped and colour-corrected the original footage from Derek's shitty, analogue "twelve year-old camera" (which I captured and digitised way back in 2005, if memory serves right). For this project I used Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 (which I finally was able to install, after installing SP2 on WinXP; but this is another painful story, altogether). I then added some music and ran the original soundtrack through Sony SoundForge 8.0 and Sonic Foundry Noise Reduction.
This, I am proud to say, is my longest short film (coming in at 12:54, compared to the 5:56 of Velocity, 3:31 of Now and 8:09 of Yume); it also incorporates the most cuts, trick cuts (when I attempt to cover up bad audio and video by cutting away to different video segments and shortening the audio), audio edits and digital zoom and cropping than any other project I have ever worked on.
Bah. I'm too tired right now to add any more information, so just sit back and enjoy the ride.

P.S. This is the first time one of my short films has an error in it, but, I suppose, to err is human. In the credits, "rex pilai" should read "rex pillai"; one instance of "thomas karmazov" should read "thomas kartmazov" and "twelve-year old camera" should read "twelve year-old camera." I may correct these errors in a later edit.
P.P.S. Just for this release, I have created a flash video viewer, to improve loading times if a page has embedded flash video; now, more efficiently, the user clicks on the link that takes him to the video player (in a new window); the video loads and starts playing automatically in that new window.
Hilarious! But the narcissist in me didn't see myself in the video :-(
Just kidding, it was great!
Hey Mike!!
Have a great trip in Japan!! =)
I'll watch it when I get back home in 2 weeks..sure it's great!! ;P
~ carol
Hey James, i don't think you were in the uncut version anyways.
The redux version is even funnier than the uncut!
James: My apologies; you ended up in that really fast shot that goes through the cafeteria. I'm glad you liked it, though. ;)
Carol: Thanks a lot! Here's to hoping that Japan processes my documents soon, heh.
Edgar: I'm glad you liked it, man.
I skimmed through it, as I lacked time. I have a degree in laziness, ya know. You looked hella different, apparently.
Also, funny Pokemon related thing. "Snorlax is fucken' pulling ten pokemons. You couldn't fucken pull ten fucken pokemons!"
Other guy;' I could fucken pull ten pokemons!"
First guy: "No you fucken can't!"
Note; Quotes might not be 100% correct.
Anyways, grats and stuff. When you say digitalized, do you mean turn it into a digital camera? Please explain. Thank you.
Apparently. I think it's the beard thang...and the fat thing. I'm fucking overweight now, man.
AHAHAHAHA, oh man, what a hilarious video! Thanks.
Nov, zenayesei dingilalayzed eymin corbert bampin bom vagalog kourse goo en dilital torse. Tos sis mek ini suns? BAGAGAGAGA! ;)

hehe. it's okay. i like the bearded you more. you were prettier than me then. and i just couldn't handle that. :P
Yes. Would the real Michael K. please stand up? Oh, wait, he can't, because he's too fat, AHAHAHAHA. Ahh, life sucks, heh.
Awwww… *bows head in shame* I didn’t mean to make you feel fat. Honest I didn’t. I really like you better now. There’s a lot more to love, figuratively. And it’s not fun hugging or snuggling a skinny man. Please don’t feel bad.
That's it, I'm starving myself to thinness! Hehe. ;) Nah, I probably don't have the will power.
:P nuthin i say works. shall i show you how much i love you? just kiddin.
Nah, it's all good. I better go sleep for a few hours, though; I'm feeling very sick.
Haha, awesome job mike. I recognize some of the people (probably passed them in the hallways or something). I've never actually seen the insides of the "new" wing (heh). I also had compiler design with Dave (Lai, i think?). Awesome editing, I wish I did something like that.
Heh, thanks. It brings back a lot of memories. Ah, yes, being bodily ejected from the sci-fi club. Those were the days. ;)
Compiler design, eh? That probably was David Dai, since he works in IT right now.
*sulks* i won't get to be in one of your thingamajigas. *sulks*
Huh? What do you mean?
Haha this is awesome. Good old highschool days. Gosh, did we really wasted those free blocks or what? :)
Damn right! It was time well spent, too. ;)
I'm sure at the time Derek was filming this I echoed Audrey's sentiments but this is some great footage :)
Who knew random searches could actually turn up cool stuff?
Heh, you should've seen the mess that the original analogue footage was. I had to use more than a few editing tricks. Still, it's all thanks to Derek we have this stuff. ;)
holy living f*&) never thought i'd stumble on your page. how are things? i got married, moved to east van and work at sfu. good to see y'all are still around! cheers,
tk
AHAHAHA What do you mean by "stumble," man? It's been up since we were in high school...in some form or another, heh. ;)
Things are that I got an Eng. Hons. B.A., a GF, and right now live (unfortunately, away from the GF) in Gifu, Japan, teaching kiddies l'anglais.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, crazy shit! So, who's the lucky girl? ;) The citizens demand photos!
/bump/
old-skool man.
Yeah.
