Don't Do It With a Folder

5:56 AM

Remember my "Do It With a Folder" bullshit, from a couple of years ago? No? Ever seen one of the following error messages?

Cannot delete [name]: It is being used by another person or program.
Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
Sure you have. The solution? Use this amazing, free program. Just right-click on the offending file or folder, and click on "Unlock"; end of story. Say a big "fuck you" to Windows XP today!

P.S. This program is so smart that it has an option to pop up its dialogue box automatically, in case such an error occurs. Good stuff.

P.P.S. Want another cool hack? This handy thread explains how to re-enable thumbnail preview for .PSD files in Windows Explorer using a .DLL file replacement and a registry hack. (Back when Photoshop CS released, this feature was disabled due to a purported Windows "API error." In reality, this "improvement" was meant to boost the use of Adobe's own File Browser, which was then built into Photoshop - and is now shipped separately with it - and known as Adobe Bridge.)
