So what's going on with me? I quit working for Nagaknow Magazine, mostly because the assholes, who I was producing it with, wanted me to design a complete, twenty-four page layout for free, on a monthly basis. Aside from that, this entire thing was depressing me way too much, and also interefering with my regular job.
Frankly, I was going to quit before the press conference, but I decided to play nice for a while to see if those assholes would play along. In the end, I had twelve page worth of useless material, so last Friday I essentially told Ken, et alii, to fuck off. Let's see how you handle the work, dickheads.
But enough of this unpleasantness. Here are some rapid-fire film reviews:
Alpha Dog B- This is a pretty decent true-crime story. Who knew Justin Timberlake could act (well, tolerably well)? Bruce Willis is a total waste of talent in this one, though.
End Game F Wow. Could there be a more cliché UDATCBA? The story is bullshit; the acting is unconvincing. A lot of good talent was wasted here, as well.
Death to Smoochy F I'm going to create a new category for this one: "Unpalatable Feel-Good Trashfest, Carried by A-List Actors" (UPFGTCAA, for short).
28 Weeks Later C- 28 Days Later was a clever, stylish film, that featured likeable protagonists, interesting philosophical, psychological and sociological question, great music, great cinematography and, of course, amazing zombie action.
This failure seems to be a weak rip-off of the already-weak Resident Evil: Apocalypse (in terms of the mass infection/quarantine storyline). Merely cutting and pasting the music and cinematographic techniques of the original does nothing for this sequel - and neither does using children as (very unconvincing) protagonists.
In addition, I have recently immersed myself in past Adult Swim offerings. Having watched all the "Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law," "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" and "Robot Chicken" episodes I could find, I downloaded and watched all of "Sealab 2021" (B-, as per my previous review) and "The Venture Brothers" (A-). Right now, I am polishing off "The Brak Show" (C+, at best). I am considering watching "Perfect Hair Forever", but, from what I've seen so far, it seems pretty racist and unfunny. I think I will also try "Space Ghost Coast to Coast", when I'll have all the episodes.
Anyways, I'm feeling pretty good right now. I spent the weekend cleaning the apartment, doing the laundry, and just relaxing. If I still feel good in the next few hours, I might even post a poetry update. Cheers.
P.S. This, this and this all seems veddy, veddy interesting. ;)
