First and foremost, a short story is in order. A few weeks ago, I recorded myself sleeping for about six hours. Yes, I am totally awesome; you may touch me. Anyways, a few days ago, I recorded the sound of myself sleeping for about eight hours. The highlight of the recording was the following sudden interjection in the midst of quite ordinary-sounding breathing, tossing and turning:
Что...что...Oh, god, I can't take this anymore, OK? Ahh! Leave me alooone...I have to talk about it.This should give you a pretty good idea what kind of life I am leading right now, heh. ;) Well, here we go again:
Take a glimpse into the future of *nix Windows 7 and MinWin, the stripped-to-the-bone, command-line version of the Windows kernel, that apparently takes 25MB on a hard drive and uses about 40MB of memory.
Next, we now have New Proof That Every Scifi Epic Is Based On Joseph Campbell.
How can you not love Peter Weller when he takes a page from the book of Elton John and puts on some blue-rimmed glasses with orange lenses? RoboCop has never looked more fabulous.
To keep things nice and spicy, here's a link to some screenshots of Soft on Demand's infamous concept pornography production, "500人SEX" ["500 Person Sex"] (here's a review and here's a torrent). This is probably the most orderly and synchronised group sex video you will ever see.
Finally, The Pirate Bay (and the homeboy socialists running it), are supporting the I Wouldn't Steal campaign of the Swedish Pirate Party. It's nothing you haven't heard before, but it's interesting to see these sorts of ideas expressed widely by a political party. (Check out their spiffy ad here.) Wintry Sweden, we're all ears.
What else? "Prison Break" S03E09 (torrent) rocks, "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles" and "jPod" both suck (I take back my words: Douglas Coupland is a damn hack who likes to pretend he's on the bleeding edge of 20-something culture [cf. William Gibson vis-a-vis technology].), but I now watch both, because there's nothing else to watch (well, Lost will hopefully return on January 31). Writers['s] Guild of America, you are now officially on my shitlist.

[...] the story of Jenny [aka XJ-9], a super-powered robot with a super-sensitive teenage heart. Her primary function is to protect the planet from certain disaster, but, like all teenagers, she has her own ideas about how she would like to live.Oh, and Jenny is pretty cute. ;)
Well, I think that's about it, ladies and gentlemen. The forecast calls for intermittent flurries of autosexual activity with a possibility of poetry.
P.S. I hate the word "proportionate." What's wrong with "proportional"?!
You don't like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles? But...the special effects! And the cyborgs running amongst us! And...okay, the only reason I checked it out was because nothing else is on.
Have you checked out "The Border"? It's new (only 2 episodes aired so far), it's topical (fictional Canadian/US joint border agency, similarities and differences in handling sovreignty and national security issues), and it's on at the same time as Sarah Connor Chronicles (if you want something else to watch).
Also, two new episodes of Chuck are airing this week. There's a lot of geek and gaming references, and it's funny as hell.
Hopefully, the Corporations will eventually give in, the WGA strike will end, and the writing of new episodes will resume.
And by geek and gaming references, I mean everything from Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Everquest to Lost, Blade Runner, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
BTW, is there any way to edit past entries?
No, I don't like T:TSCC, and here's why: 1. The Terminator is not played by Arnie; end of story. The whole franchise is pointless without him.
Meh. I think I'll pass on both "The Border" and "Chuck," mostly because I find it hard to quit watching some shows, even if they turn out to be quite bad. This issue aside, I grow weary of references to "cool" things in mainstream TV (cf. JPod). Most of the time it feels like the writers are insulting my intelligence, whenever a character talks excitedly about something that was actually cool half a year ago. What can I say? I'm a trend junkie. ;) Also, I don't have too much time right now, since I might get a second job soon (and I'm already taking a Japanese course at Langara on Sunday mornings) - but thanks for the heads-up, man; even if I don't jump into watching a show right away, I might read some reviews and check them out later.
Argh. The "WGA" letter combination is doubly evil, since it also stands for "Windows Genuine Advantage" - but, not to worry; both are full of crap and, hence, cannot last forever.
P.S. Nope. Only I have control over post and comment editing; everything is basically stored in a database, so I can go into it either via Movable Type or directly, via phpMyAdmin, and make the necessary changes (when things get fux0r'd, or when I need to make some *cough* strategic editorial decisions, heh). Personally, I always hit the "Preview" button to see how my comments look before they're posted; it helps me gather my thoughts. Then again, who cares if you post a few comments too many? 99.9% of the time I don't mind.
You're always deleting my comments so I don't have to worry about what I write. I hope that Windows Genuine Advantage stike ends soon. And is Microsoft ever going to circumvent the permanent Writer's Guild of America-fucker?
That's funny and I like it.
In other news, with regard to your newfound sentiments, I think it would be a mistake to adopt this philosophy. Here's what I generally delete:
• References to fæces
• Comments that undermine my authority. (How would I be the loveable dictator figure that I am, otherwise?)
• Annoying questions and requests from the United Idiots of teh Intarwebs
• Shit that ruins the consistency and flow of threads (but, as stipulated in my offtopic posting policy, most of the time I don't mind it, when it comes from the right people)
