I don't usually mind Russian villains in Hollywood films; in fact, sometimes it's downright amusing. Charlie Wilson's War, however, did not amuse me, because it made the Russians look like heartless sociopaths and the Americans (whose only fault in the film apparently was that they did not follow through their clandestine liberation of Afghanistan with its reconstruction) like valiant peacekeepers.
I say, let the Russians answer for themselves. Did the Americans learn anything from Afghanistan when you fought Afghanistan II and Iraq II? Not really...but I guess one reason, to white-wash a small portion of the Cold War to feel noble, is as good as another. Et tu, Mike Nichols?
sometimes north american propaganda seems to be whitewashing people's brains more than the soviet propaganda did in the 80's. just instead of Lenin in textbooks you get 70 tv channels none of which ever tell you the basic facts.
no wonder the candidate who says "we've been bombing iraq for 10 years" gets completely ignored by mainstream media ...

Oh, my fucking god. I think you've hit the nail on the head! Where have they been hiding this Ron Paul?! Rudy Giuliani is a fucking snake! Thanks for the link, man; it's quite apropos. Man.
In unrelated news, I read in the paper that "The Office" will be back soon. Rejoice, o masses!
