Well, as you probably already know, the brand-spankin'-new Canada Line is going to open on August 17. Now, gather round, boys and girls. Uncle Mikey will tell you the Gospel of the End of the World, according to TransLink.
First of all, things will be not so bad. People will enjoy themselves, riding up and down the new, wonderful line (courtesy of Lee Myung-Bak's friends over at Hyundai), and then all hell will break loose. When thousands of UBC and Langara students (let alone students of other institutions that just got the UPass) and Downtown commuters suddenly realise that the dear, old 98 B-Line is no longer there (and that walking or driving from Granville to Cambie is beside the point - in terms of time and expense) they will overload the morning and peak-hour #10 busses, causing service outages (since the number of busses will not be increased - only their frequency), in addition to traffic jams, breakdowns and one hell of a public outcry.
Add to this the inability of all the new busses to deal with a few feet of snow during the winter season and you've got yourself a nice transportation debacle...but this is just 2009. February 2010? Evergreen Line?! Fuck you! TransLink, you have really dropped the ball on this one.
This kind of sucks, I used to ride 98 bus a lot when I lived around Granville
Yeah, it was packed today. I shudder when I think of the future.
You still read mig81.com, eh? ;) Good.
the 98 is being killed? :( Where will i tease you now? :P
In my pants? ;)
