one thing I know about Branden is he had had budget deficit for few years before he shut down VTC, my korean friend tole me who works in immigrant consulting agency.

hope to find this guy soon and you have a chance to grab
his neck so you can drag him to a court to claim your money
and other good fellow tutors.

I have a similar experience to this case, and have lost my
trust on English school owned by Korean man (not all Korean
officers are bad =) ), but cannot claim cuz I didn't have working
permit at that time.
